By Rachel Petticrew

The orange status weather warning put in place in Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath has been upgraded to a Status Red alert.

All schools, universities and 3rd-level institutions in Munster and Leinster will remain closed for the rest of the week.

All Ryanair flights to and from Dublin airport have been cancelled for the rest of today and tommorrow. If you are due to fly over the next few days, the airport suggests checking your flight schedule for possible updates.

There have been some delays and disruptions to Iarnród Éireann lines, however most train services will continue to operate.

Dublin Bus has cancelled all services for the rest of the day and will provide regular updates in regards to their operation.

There have been a number of cancellations across Bus Eireann and Expressway services – see for a full list of cancellations.

Met Eireann has adviced all those in Munster and Leinster to stay indoors between 4 pm on Thursday evening and 12 pm Friday afternoon.

Stay warm and stay safe!
